Banded steel coils swinging under the roof trusses of a warehouse, and a steel column held upright in an open yard: that is the work a BOB-LIFT SQ6.3ZA4 knuckle boom crane is doing in the five photos and four short videos its customer in Mexico sent back.

- Truck and mounting. The crane is mounted behind the cab of a grey bonneted truck with a flat steel deck. The boom is painted yellow and carries the BOB-LIFT and SQ6.3Z markings.
- Steel coils indoors. In the videos the crane lifts banded steel coils and swings them over a timber-walled bay in a steel-framed warehouse. The knuckle boom works folded under the roof trusses and still reaches out over the stack.
- Column setting outdoors. In the yard the crane lifts a long steel column and holds it vertical while workers, some in high-visibility vests, guide the base.
- Stock around the trucks. Galvanised tube and square hollow section are stacked around the trucks. The work is steel handling, though the customer's business is not recorded.

The SQ6.3ZA4 is now a previous model. In the same 6.3 t class we currently build the SQ6.3ZA5 and the BLZ129K4. The SQ6.3ZA4 page compares all three and shows the full drawings.
Working under a roof: why the knuckle boom fits
The videos show the point of a knuckle boom in a steel yard. Folded, the boom keeps its height low enough to work under trusses; unfolded, it reaches across a bay or stands a column upright outdoors. Parked behind the cab, it leaves the whole deck free for coils and long sections.
For indoor steel handling, three things decide the model:
- The heaviest coil or bundle and how far it sits from the slewing centre. Capacity falls as the radius grows, so check the load chart at the reach you will really use.
- Clear height under the trusses and through the doors, with the boom folded and with the load hanging.
- Chassis rating. A 6.3 t knuckle boom adds about 2.2 t to the truck before the subframe.
Other capacities are in the knuckle boom truck mounted crane range. How we fit cranes to customer chassis is on the mounting and shipping page.
Record compiled by Achord Chan, Product Operations Director at BOB-LIFT, from the customer's photos and videos, the technical department's drawing and the BOB-LIFT brochure.
