A red SQ12SA4 telescopic crane stands between the cab and a long white dropside body on a three-axle truck in Bahrain. Our customer there sent back four photos from an open works yard: the crane with a technician on its base platform, and the boom raised over the body.

At a glance: SQ12SA4 12 t telescopic boom crane · Bahrain · behind-cab on a three-axle dropside truck · 4 customer photos.

The truck in the yard

  • Behind-cab mounting. The crane column sits directly behind the cab, so the dropside body behind it keeps its full length for cargo. The boom carries the BOB-LIFT and SQ12S markings.
  • Technician on the crane. In one photo a technician stands on the crane's base platform, working at the top of the column next to the control station. A red and black striped outrigger leg stands beside the column.
  • Boom raised. In the other shots the retracted boom is lifted at an angle above the body, with the hook block stowed at the boom head.
  • Site. The truck is parked on gravel among shipping containers, drums and other trucks.

These are the customer's own photos. No lift weights, dates or comments came with them.

Planning a behind-cab dropside truck like this one

A behind-cab crane puts its weight on the front of the chassis, where the cab and engine already sit. With a 4.6 t crane plus subframe, check the front-axle rating first, before body length or tyre size. How we plan the subframe and fit a crane to a customer chassis is on the mounting and shipping page.

The outrigger legs beside the column are what the crane stands on during a lift. Fully extended, the span is 7.5 m, so plan lift positions on site with that width clear.

A dropside body like this one loads from the side as well as from the crane, which suits pallets, building materials and machinery parts. Full specifications and the dimension drawing are on the SQ12SA4 product page. Other capacities are in the telescopic boom truck mounted crane range.

Record compiled by Achord Chan, Product Operations Director at BOB-LIFT, from the customer's photos and the technical department's drawing.
